It’s the most wonderful time of the year…FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!

We hope you have now had a chance to join us ON State College since we can’t be IN State College for the games all the time.
Join us every Saturday at:
Orange County Sports Grill
450 N. State College Blvd in Orange, CA
The OCSG is fan friendly and freeway close for all our O.C. and I.E Penn State Family.
It’s the next best thing to being at Beaver Stadium!
A win-win season for all!

  • All TVs in our viewing area will show the PSU game
  • Weekly drink specials!
  • Doors open at 8:30 AM for the 9:00 AM games
  • Variety of seating options
  • OCSG gift card at our weekly raffle
  • Video games for kids and adults
  • Clean restrooms and ample parkingHere’s what you’ve missed so far….

College football season is in full swing. The O.C. Chapter has been in full support of the Nittany Lions as they’ve battled their way to a 2-1 record heading into the final non-conference game against Eastern Michigan.
Almost 70 people came out to OC Sports Grill to watch Penn State in the season opener against Indiana State. It was good to see old friends back in Blue & White rooting for PSU & supporting our chapter.
We had several members & fans head back to State College for the Alabama game, but that didn’t stop over 60 people from coming out to cheer on PSU as they took on Alabama. While we didn’t win the game, the support by those who came out was great.
Buck Buchhagen was the big raffle prize winner thus far. He had the lucky ticket for the Alabama game and won the PSU Tailgate Bag Chair. Other great prizes have been awarded too. But you can’t win without coming to the game.
We hope to see continued support for PSU as well as the O.C. Chapter as we head into Big Ten play October 1 @ Indiana.

For the Glory,
Brian Snyder ‘02
Athletics Chair

“Rally at the Alley” Pre-season- Happy Hour!
Friday, September 2, 2011
Penn State alumni and friends came together at The Alley in Newport Beach
to kickoff the 2011 PSU Football Season.
We had the front patio section all to ourselves, and we kept our waitress busy
with drinks and their delicious Happy Hour food specials.

There were about 20-25 of us total, coming and going throughout the night.
Our scheduled time was 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm, but there were still Penn Staters there at 8 pm  so we can count our Football kickoff Happy Hour as a great success!  We had a few new faces as well, and we hope to see you at future OCPSU events!

Stay tuned for future Happy Hours….”Save the Date”, December 4th for our
Holiday Brunch…and see you at the OC Sports Grill in Anaheim for football!

The Penn State/Orange County Annual Holiday Basket Delivery
At the Penn State games on October 29th, November 12th AND November 19th we will be collecting for our Annual Holiday Basket Brigade Delivery and you will have the opportunity to contribute to this inspiring non-profit community service event.
Encouraging and nurturing peace and goodwill in the world requires tangible action from ALL OF US!!

Last year, along with other non-profit organizations, Penn State/Orange County helped in the 19th Annual Holiday Basket Brigade Delivery.  Hundreds of volunteers delivered surprise holiday baskets of food, supplies, and toys to families in need in Southern California counties.  Nearly 1000 families received a surprise holiday basket in One Day!! This year, just in Orange County, our goal is to reach at least 200 needy families with Holiday Baskets.

The Basket Brigade is an idea Anthony Robbins has fostered for years.  His own family received one when he was a teenager, and he was so moved and inspired by the kindness of total strangers that he vowed to do the same for others someday.  Now the event is huge and happens in countries around the world, usually around Thanksgiving.   Can you imagine the joy, goodwill and happiness this one event spreads to so many families in need??!!
This year, you and your friends (or groups) can help us collect items for the 20th Annual Holiday Basket Brigade where they create and deliver surprises in round laundry baskets.  Even if you bring just one can of vegetables or a small toy or donate $20, be a part of this inspirational project that brings joy to struggling families.  The Tony Robbins volunteers have been doing it for 20 years in Southern California and it’s a wonderful, memorable experience!!!!  When you sit down for YOUR holiday meal, smile and know that you were part of something that blessed the lives of others and helped them have a great holiday too!   It’s a great feeling to know that you DID something and that you are part of the solution to make this world a more compassionate place. This will be the 10th year that Penn State/Orange County has participated in this worthy endeavor.       FROZEN TURKEYS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT ALL THE GAMES BUT
WOULD BE BEST BROUGHT TO THE NOVEMBER 19TH GAME!!
***AT THE PENN STATE GAMES On October 29th, November 12th & November 19th***

Please bring any donations of nonperishable food, supplies, new toys, round laundry baskets or anything else that the families may enjoy for their Thanksgiving Meal & Celebration

Please put your donations in plastic grocery bags so we can easily carry them and leave them on the pool table nearest the side door at the Orange County Sports Grill and we’ll remove them after each game and deliver them to the families on Sunday, November 20th. Thanks for your generosity. We are…

Membership has its privileges!
Chapter dues collected during the current fiscal year are credited to the current fiscal year only. Dues are not carried into the new fiscal year no matter when they are paid. Most of our events have two-tiered pricing and only current paid members get discounted rates for our Chapter merchandise. Our next fiscal year begins July 1, 2011. At that time you will need to renew your dues. It is important that you join every year. Membership costs are $20 / individual and $30 / couple. Dues go a long way to support our Chapter events, mailings and especially our Endowed Scholarship Fund.
We applaud our Life Members who continue to pay yearly. Local 2011 graduates receive one year free Chapter membership. There are over 2500 Penn State alumni in our Chapter area (Orange County and Inland Empire.) Please consider joining. We offer incentives to anyone recruiting a new member. Membership in the PSAA (Penn State’s national organization) is separate from the OCCPSAA, our local Chapter. We encourage you to join both organizations. Membership Chair is Andrew Dale ’06. Send dues payable to “OCCPSAA” to: Andrew Dale, 1151 Walnut Ave, Apt #10 Tustin, CA 92780
